Lip blushing is a semi-permanent makeup (PMU) procedure that enhances the natural color and shape of the lips. Instead of applying lipstick every day, the permanent makeup pigment is deposited into the lips using a PMU machine (similar to a tattoo machine, but much more delicate).

Before undergoing the Lip Blushing procedure, it's essential to be aware of the potential contraindications. These are conditions or factors that may make the procedure unsuitable or require special consideration. If you have any of the following conditions or situations, please inform me during your consultation to ensure your safety and the best possible results. 

• Uncontrolled Diabetes:
  Individuals with uncontrolled diabetes may experience slower healing times and increased risk of infection, making them unsuitable candidates for Lip Blushing.
• Blood Disorders:
  Conditions such as hemophilia or other blood disorders that affect clotting can increase the risk of excessive bleeding during the procedure.
• Keloid Scarring:
  If you have a history of keloid scarring or hypertrophic scars, you may not be a suitable candidate as the procedure involves minor trauma to the skin, which could trigger excessive scar formation.
• Herpes Simplex Virus (Cold Sores):
  If you have a history of cold sores, you must take antiviral medication before and after the procedure to prevent an outbreak. The procedure can trigger an outbreak, even if you have not had one in a long time.
• Autoimmune Diseases:
  Certain autoimmune conditions, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, can affect the healing process and increase the risk of complications.
• Recent Cosmetic Procedures:
  If you have recently undergone any cosmetic procedures on or near your lips, such as fillers, chemical peels, or laser treatments, you should wait until the area is fully healed before having Lip Blushing done.
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
  Lip Blushing is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women due to the potential risk of infection and the lack of research on the effects of pigments and anesthetics on infants.
• Skin Conditions:
  Conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis on the lips or surrounding area can affect the outcome of the procedure and increase the risk of complications.

• Blood Thinners:
  Medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, and prescription blood thinners can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. It's important to avoid these medications at least 48 hours before the procedure, but consult with your healthcare provider before discontinuing any prescribed medication.
• Retinol and Strong Skincare Products:
  Avoid using retinol, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), and other strong skincare products on the lip area for at least a week before the procedure, as they can cause increased sensitivity and irritation.
• Accutane (Isotretinoin):
  Individuals currently taking Accutane or who have taken it within the past year should avoid Lip Blushing, as it can cause extreme dryness and sensitivity of the skin.

• Recent Sunburn or Tan:
  Avoid Lip Blushing if you have a recent sunburn or tan on your lips, as this can affect the healing process and pigment retention.
• Immune System Suppression:
  Individuals with a compromised immune system, either from illness or medication, should avoid the procedure as it can increase the risk of infection and complications.
• Alcohol and Caffeine:
  Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before your appointment as they can increase bleeding and sensitivity.
